Jack Barham’s solo project christian girls rarely leaves the bedroom, bringing uncomfortably direct songwriting with the upbeat manufactured musical language of ‘50s maltshop songwriters. Caught somewhere between intimacy and publicity, this collection of songs resembles a short, retroactive jukebox album.

The vocals of christian girls are also unique in the sense that they don’t really sound like anybody else that I can think of and that gives them a definite advantage while mixed with a genre other bands like to touch upon but never fully immerse themselves in.
