“time of my life, time out again”

An alembic is an alchemical still of two vessels connected by a tube used for distilling chemicals; wendy alembic (guitarist and composer Wendy Eisenberg) is a very quiet song, a breath of light and the intimation of salt.

On her debut album collected early works, Wendy ushers in a unique boldness in her songwriting, making use of jazz idioms and tonalities in some spaces and completely throwing them out in others. The abstract, the absurd, and the attractive all find peace in this collection of songs and pieces written and recorded between 2014 and 2015.

“The songs on here feel fragile and delicate while the bedroom style makes everything feel natural. It turns out that Wendy has a background in jazz guitar and while there is an intricacy to the fingerpicking style, it doesn’t fall into the the trap of sounding too technical.”

sign it in and put it in its place again

he will always good intend
you know how to write songs
you don't have to write songs

going on the T again
lend a hand and wait until they take your arm
he will always be your friend
you know how to write words
try to write the right words

i wanna know
i'm 22
who the hell are all these people singing at?

is there ever a way
to say something new?
strike through

eating isn't eating you
love yourself but give yourself some distance too
maybe some will lie to you

can't you tell the difference
isn't there a difference?

i wanna know
i'm 22
who the hell are all these people speaking for?

is there ever a way
to say something true?
